Selling your old van

Upgrading is a lot easier when the sale of the old rig is planned before the new one arrives.

Start with what is owing

If there is still a loan on the van, ask your lender for a payout figure. Selling a van that has finance on it usually means the loan has to be cleared as part of the sale, so buyers will want a clear title or a plan to get one.

Gather your paperwork

Price it honestly

Look at similar vans for sale and be upfront about wear and condition. Good photos and a straightforward description help buyers trust the listing.

Where to list

You can list your van on Anything Marketplace, which is set up for listing vehicles and gear. Whichever place you use, take care with payments and handover.

Selling and buying together

Some people sell first so that the proceeds reduce what they need to borrow. Others buy first and sell afterwards. Each approach has trade-offs, so work through the numbers. The ATO has information on whether a sale might have tax implications. Consider speaking with a tax professional.
